TOROS - Theatre Out Reach On Stage. Wow! What a wonderful thing to have in our area! As far as we know there is no other like it in Ontario, maybe even Canada. TOROS, having just wrapped its 24th annual production, is a summer school program which provides students an opportunity to earn credits in dramatic arts while preparing a full length musical performed in a professional theatre setting. The average number of students for such a production is 70 and one can only imagine the work that goes into managing a group this size in singing, dancing and acting.

A huge undertaking for everyone involved. The talent is second to none and the performers are certainly in the league of a 'big city production'… whatever that means... we think TOROS does it perfectly regardless of the size of the city and would be a hit anywhere. This year's All Shook Up was based on Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, set to the music of Elvis and emotions ran from laughter to sadness and beyond. Over 2000 students have appeared in TOROS productions since its beginning and some of these young people have gone on to perform at Stratford and Shaw and have appeared on professional stages in Toronto, Vancouver and New York. What a vision Marty and Art Southcott had 24 years ago when they shared their creative genius with us. Thank you, thank you… to all of the performers, crew, parents and volunteers involved. This is North Bay and Area… positively!
